“The mother art is architecture.

Without an architecture of our own we have no soul of our own civilization.”

-Frank Lloyd Wright: 1867-1959 (American Architect and Writer, the most abundantly creative genius of American architecture. His Prairie style became the basis of 20th century residential design in the United States)

__________

"...Architecture does what no other art can do: All other art forms recreate some portion of the world - a single human figure, or a two-dimensional scene on a canvas. Only architecture can create a total environment, one that literally surrounds the viewer.

Architecture creates a man-made, idealized world - an environment created by the architect to fit the kind of life he sees as proper to man.

Architecture conveys a view of man indirectly, not by projecting an image of man himself [as sculpture, painting and literature do] but by projecting a proper environment for man to live in."

-Sherri Tracinski -The Intellectual Activist, April 1998

-the idea is to maximize the use of natural lighting in the day time yet preventing as much as possible the intrusion of ultra-violet rays coming from the sun considering this is the middle east.

the solution:
sun-shaders and the use of low-E architectural glass.

the bulk of daily transactions usually starts at 8am to 12 noon and from 3pm till evening. the purple canopy on the entance extending through the inside helps shade the sun in the mid-morn as well as the white block where the bank's logo rests. in the afternoon, the seemingly useless over-sized canopy on the roof shades the interior. while the all-glass wall extending thru part of the roof allows the most of the ambient light where the sun does not directly hit the building.
low-E arch'l. glass (sputtered) allows up to 78% visibility from the inside which is considerably high compared to tinted or reflective glass. this allows the m...

Dynamic Architecture

David Fisher Architects

Welcome to a new and innovative architecture perspective.
It's called Dynamic Architecture. Isn't life about dynamics as well?
Our buildings keep moving, forever changing their shape to better fit your imagination.
And to better fit nature as well. Our buildings follow the sun and move to the wind. So it's nature itself that gives them a full energy supply.
In return, we pay nature more respect, building our towers with a ready-made technology for a more efficient and environment friendly implementation.
Our architecture rotates 360° for a wider vision of the world, of nature, of the future, of life.
This is our vision. Become a visionary

Philippine Atheists

This site is maintained and administered by the Philippine Atheists, a loose community of Filipino atheists, humanists and freethinkers. We came from various internet forums and united only by one thing - atheism. Aside from atheism, there is nothing more we can say that binds us or describe us as a whole. Atheists are usually of different kinds and varieties and any attempt at classifying them under one category or definition is bound to fail. Therefore, the views and opinions expressed herewith are expected to be varied as well and should not be taken as the opinion of the whole community.

The Ayn Rand Institute

The Ayn Rand Institute (ARI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, works to introduce young people to Ayn Rand's novels, to support scholarship and research based on her ideas, and to promote the principles of reason, rational self-interest, individual rights and laissez-faire capitalism to the widest possible audience. Named for novelist-philosopher Ayn Rand (1905―1982), who is best known for her novels The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, the Institute is headquartered in Irvine, California. ARI has a distinguished Board of Directors and a staff of about 30 employees.

ARI seeks to spearhead a cultural renaissance that will reverse the anti-reason, anti-individualism, anti-freedom, anti-capitalist trends in today's culture. The major battleground in this fight for reason and capitalism is the educational institutions—high schools and, above all, the universities, where students learn the ideas that shape their lives.

Ayn Rand's philosophy—known as Objectivism—holds that historica...
